Acetic acid vapour contains a proportion of planar, hydrogen-bonded dimers. The relative permittivity of pure liquid acetic acid is 7.14 at 290 K and increases with increasing temperature. Suggest an interpretation of the latter observation. What effect should isothermal dilution have on the relative permittivity of solutions of acetic acid in benzene?
