QUESTION:

Problem 3E

Section 15.1 Fluids

A 6.0 m × 12.0 m swimming pool slopes linearly from a 1.0 m depth at one end to a 3.0 in depth at the other. What is the mass of water in the pool?

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

Here we have to find the mass of the water in pool.

The length is,

\(l=12 m\) .

Width is,

\(b=6 m\)

The height changes from starting to end.

The total volume will be,

\(V =l b\left(h_{2}-h_{1}\right)\)

\(=12 \times 6 \times(3-1)=144 m^{3}\) .
