QUESTION:

Problem 93P

Calculate each of the following quantities:

(a) Moles of compound in 0.588 g of ammonium bromide

(b) Number of potassium ions in 88.5 g of potassium nitrate

(c) Mass in grams of 5.85 mol of glycerol (C3H8O3)

(d) Volume of 2.85 mol of chloroform (CHC13;d = 1.48 g/mL)

(e) Number of sodium ions in 2.11 mol of sodium carbonate

(f) Number of atoms in 25.0 μg of cadmium

(g) Number of atoms in 0.0015 mol of fluorine gas

ANSWER:

Solution 93P:

Step 1: (a)

Here, we have to calculate the moles of compound in 0.588 g of ammonium bromide.

Given that,

The mass of = 0.588 g

The molar mass of = 97.94 g/mol

Therefore,

The moles of = (0.588 g )= 0.006 mol

Thus, the moles of compound in 0.588 g of ammonium bromide is 0.006 mol.
