When l =2 , the designation of sublevel is d-orbital.
The ml value = -l to 0 to +l
= -2 to 0 to +2 i.e -2, -1, 0, +1, +2
The number of orbital can be calculated as = 2l+1 = 2 (2)+1 = 5
Thus the sublevel designation is d-orbital, the allowable ml values are -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 and the number of orbitals are 5.
