Chapter 23, Problem 15

(choose chapter or problem)

Some years ago, a 19-year-old woman received a bone marrow transplant from her 1-year-old sister. The woman was suffering from a deadly form of leukemia and was almost certain to die without a transplant. The parents had decided to have another child in a final attempt to provide their daughter with a matching donor. Although the ethics of the parents decision were criticized, doctors report that this situation is not uncommon. In your opinion, is it acceptable to have a child to provide an organ or tissue donation? Why or why not? 1
