Nitric oxide (NO) reacts readily with chlorine gas as follows: 2 NO(g) + CI2(g) = 2

Chapter 15, Problem 15.69

(choose chapter or problem)

Nitric oxide (NO) reacts readily with chlorine gas as follows: 2 NO(g) + CI2(g) = 2 NOCl(g) At 700 K the equilibrium constant Kp for this reaction is 0.26. Predict the behavior of each of the following mixtures at this temperature: (a) !'No = 0.15 atm, Pe12 = 0.31 atm, and PNOCI = 0.11 atm; (b) J'No = 0.12 atm, Pe1, = 0.10 atm, and i'NoCI = 0.050 atm; (c) !'No = 0.15 atm, PCI, = 0.20 atm, and !'NoCI = 5.10 X 10-3 atm.
