Observations – involve the measurement or description of some aspect of nature Antoine Lavoisier (1743–1794), a French chemist, made an observation about the physical world. He named the elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen; discovered oxygen’s role in combustion and respiration. Lavoisier burned substances in closed containers.
