QUESTION:

Problem 32CQ

Bowling and Club Membership Of the members of the Spring Lake Bowling Lanes, 57% have a lifetime membership and bowl regularly (three or more times a week). If 70% of the club members bowl regularly, find the probability that a randomly selected member is a lifetime member, given that he or she bowls regularly.

ANSWER:

Solution:

Step 1 of 2:

             Let us denote the event A = lifetime membership

            Let the event B = regular bowling (3 or more times a week).

            And let the = lifetime membership and regular bowling.

           Then,

                    P(B) = 0.7

                    P() = 0.57

          Here we have to find the probability that a randomly selected member is a lifetime member, given that he or she bowls regularly.
