The sodium salt of 2-quinizarinsulfonic acid forms a complex with Al3_ that absorbs

Chapter 7, Problem 7.95

(choose chapter or problem)

The sodium salt of 2-quinizarinsulfonic acid forms a complex with Al3_ that absorbs strongly at 560 nm. (a) Use the data below to draw a plot of absorbance vs. concentration of a complex in solution and find the slope and y-intercept: Concentration (M) Absorbance (560 nm) 1.0_10_5 0.131 1.5_10_5 0.201 2.0_10_5 0.265 2.5_10_5 0.329 3.0_10_5 0.396 (b) When 20.0 mL of this complex solution is diluted with water to 150. mL, its absorbance is 0.236. Find the concentrations of the diluted solution and of the original solution.
