a.  To draw a Newman projection, rotate the molecule so that the arrow is pointing

directly into the page The substituents on the carbon in the front will be drawn off of a

point in the center of a circle, while the substituents on the carbon at the back of the

viewed bond will be drawn as coming off of the circle, Here, the front carbon has three

methyl groups while the back carbon has a methyl group and two hydrogen atoms.
