Step-by-Step Solution:
Step 1 of 3

Solution 16E: Matter is generally classified according to (i) physical state (ii) By using its composition Homogeneous matter is uniform and continuous whereas heterogeneous consist of two or more phase having non-uniformity and discontinuity. Pure substance refers to the matter which has distinct set of properties that are common to all other samples to that substance. A mixture consists of two or more substance which has a wide range of properties are depending on the relative amounts of the components present in the mixture. The chemical symbol of an element comes from the first one or two letters of their chemical name. (a) Carbon The chemical name is Carbon. So, the chemical symbol will be C . (b) nitrogen The chemical name is Nitrogen. So, the chemical symbol will be N . (c) titanium The chemical name is Titanium. So, the chemical symbol will be Ti. (d) zinc, The chemical name is Zinc. So, the chemical symbol will be Zn. (e) iron, The chemical name of Iron is Ferrum which comes from Latin name. So, the chemical symbol of potassium will be Fe. (f) P, P is the chemical symbol of chemical element Phosphorus. (g) Ca, Ca is the chemical symbol of chemical element calcium. (h) He, He is the chemical symbol of chemical element Helium which is generally a gas. (i) Pb, Pb is chemical symbol of element which has chemical name Lead. Lead (Na) generally comes from the latin name Plumbum(Pb). (j) Ag. Ag is chemical symbol of element which has chemical name silver. Silver Ag) generally comes from the latin name Argentum(Ag).
