Chapter 3, Problem 3.33

(choose chapter or problem)

A d’Arsonval ammeter is shown in Fig. P3.33.

a) Calculate the value of the shunt resistor, \(R_{A}\), to give a full-scale current reading of 5 A.

b) How much resistance is added to a circuit when the 5 A ammeter in part (a) is inserted to measure current?

c) Calculate the value of the shunt resistor, \(R_{A}\), to give a full-scale current reading of 100 mA.

d) How much resistance is added to a circuit when the 100 mA ammeter in part (c) is inserted to measure current?
