The accompanying figure shows known flow rates of hydrocarbons into and out of a network of pipes at an oil refinery. (a) Set up a linear system whose solution provides the unknown flow rates. (b) Solve the system for the unknown flow rates. (c) Find the flow rates and directions of flow if and . Figure Ex-2
ABSTRACT The purpose of this lab was to observe the mechanical response of thin aluminum and steel specimens under uniaxial tensile and cyclic loading. Uniaxial tests were done twice on both aluminum and steel, once at slow speed and once at high speeds. The data was the manipulated to find the both the engineering stress and strain and actual stress and strain. The data was then plotted and the elastic modulus, yield strength, elastic and plastic regions, toughness, necking point, ultimate tensile strength, and ultimate failure strength.
