Chapter 3, Problem 3/50

(choose chapter or problem)

The torsional spring of constant \(k_T=50 \mathrm{~N} \cdot \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{rad}\) is undeformed when \(\theta=0\). Determine the value(s) of \(\theta\) over the range \(0 \leq \theta \leq 180^{\circ}\) for which equilibrium exists. Use the values \(m_A=10 \mathrm{~kg}, m_B=1 \mathrm{~kg}, m_{O A}= 5 \mathrm{~kg}\), and r = 0.8 \mathrm{~m}. Assume that OA is a uniform slender rod with a particle A (negligible size) at its end, and neglect the effects of the small ideal rollers.
