The longest continuous chain of carbon atoms connected to the amine contains six carbon atoms. The root name and suffice therefore becomes “1-hexanamine”. There are four methyl substituents present, two on 2nd carbon and two on 3rd carbon. Hence, the IUPAC name, therefore, becomes: 2,2,3,3-tetramethyl-1-hexanamine.
