Solved: A mail carrier must deliver mail on foot along the streets of the Green Hills

Chapter 5, Problem 54

(choose chapter or problem)

A mail carrier must deliver mail on foot along the streets of the Green Hills subdivision shown in Fig. 39. His route must start and end at the Post Office, labeled P in the figure. The mail carrier must walk along each block twice if there are houses on both sides of the street and once along blocks where there are houses on only one side of the street. Find an optimal route for the mail carrier. Describe the route by labeling the edges 1, 2, 3, and so on in the order in which they are traveled. (Hint: You should do Exercise 22 first.)
