In Prob. 1.2 we made a crude integration of the density distribution ( z ) in Table A.6 and estimated the mass of the earths atmosphere to be m < 6 E18 kg. Can this result be used to estimate sea-level pressure on the earth? Conversely, can the actual sea-level pressure of 101.35 kPa be used to make a more accurate estimate of the atmospheric mass?
