The ultralight plane Gossamer Condor in 1977 was the fi rst to complete the Kremer Prize fi gure-eight course under human power. Its wingspan was 29 m, with Cav 5 2.3 m and a total mass of 95 kg. The drag coeffi cient was approximately 0.05. The pilot was able to deliver 1 4 hp to propel the plane. Assuming two-dimensional fl ow at sea level, estimate (a) the cruise speed attained, (b) the lift coeffi cient, and (c) the horsepower required to achieve a speed of 15 kn.
