Consider steady, incompressible, two-dimensionalflow through a converging duct (Fig. P417). A simpleapproximate velocity field for this flow isV!5 (u, v) 5 (U0 1 bx) i!2 by j!where U0 is the horizontal speed at x 5 0. Note that thisequation ignores viscous effects along the walls but is a reasonableapproximation throughout the majority of the flowfield. Calculate the material acceleration for fluid particlespassing through this duct. Give your answer in two ways:(1) as acceleration components ax and ay and (2) as accelerationvector a.
