In dichloromethane, CH2Cl2 1m = 1.60 D2, the dispersion

Chapter , Problem 11.77

(choose chapter or problem)

In dichloromethane, CH2Cl2 1m = 1.60 D2, the dispersion force contribution to the intermolecular attractive forces is about five times larger than the dipoledipole contribution. Compared to CH2Cl2, would you expect the relative importance of the dipoledipole contribution to increase or decrease (a) in dibromomethane 1m = 1.43 D2, (b) in difluoromethane 1m = 1.93 D2? (c) Explain.
