The cross section of a long circular tube, which isdivided

Chapter 13, Problem 13.105

(choose chapter or problem)

The cross section of a long circular tube, which isdivided into two semicylindrical ducts by a thin wall,is shown Sides 1 and 2 are maintained at temperatures ofT1?600 K and T2?400 K, respectively, while themean temperatures of gas flows through ducts 1 and 2are Tg,1?571 K and Tg,2?449 K, respectively. Theforegoing temperatures are invariant in the axial direc-tion. The gases provide surface convection coefficientsof h1?h2?5 W/m2?K, while all duct surfaces maybe approximated as blackbodies (?1??2??w?1).What is the duct wall temperature, Tw? By performingan energy balance on the gas in side l, verify that Tg,1is,in fact, equal to 571 K.
