Solution 7P STEP 1:- Let’s take the hive as the origin and according to that try to plot the trajectory of the bee. STEP 2:- The bee started from the origin “O”, travelled 500 m towards east and reached point “A”. Then it turned back and moved 400 m towards left and reached point”B”. It’s displacement up to now is 500-400=100m. Then from point “B” it again turned and moved towards east for 700m and reached point “C”. This is the final point. The total displacement became 100+700=800m As this is a 1-dimensional problem, east and west directions can be defined by +ve and -ve signs. So that we can add them directly which would be a result of vector addition. CONCLUSION: The final displacement from the origin is 800 m.
