The block is fitted between the fixed supports. If the glued joint can resist a maximum

Chapter 10, Problem 10-52

(choose chapter or problem)

The block is fitted between the fixed supports. If the glued joint can resist a maximum shear stress of \(\tau_{\text {allow }}=2 \mathrm{\ ksi}\), determine the temperature rise that will cause the joint to fail. Take \(E=10\left(10^{3}\right)\) ksi, v = 0.2, and Hint: Use Eq. 10–18 with an additional strain term of \(\alpha \Delta T\) (Eq. 4–4).
