In the sequence shown in Fig. P5.54, the second reaction is unfamiliar. Nevertheless, identify compounds A and B from the information provided. The formula of compound B is C6H12. Compound B decolorizes Br2 in CCl4, and takes up one equivalent of H2 over a Pt/C catalyst. Once you have identified B, try to give a curved-arrow notation for its formation from A in one step.
