(b) Show that the energy associated with the Coulomb force between protons in a nucleus is proportional to Z(Z # 1). (c) Show that, as we move to larger and larger nuclei (see Fig. 42-5), the importance of the Coulomb force increases more rapidly than does that of the strong force
