In fact, her class is really easy. The material is hard, but not impossible. There is quite a bit of studying involved, but that can be expected once you get into Eller. Everyone just likes to complain because they are too lazy to put in the time to understand the material. Umashankar truly wants you to succeed. ...Continue reading

Umashankar may seem bad at first, but as time goes on you'll realize she just wants to help you. I think she is really good and she curved the first two midterms so she HELPED So all you need is a B avg on the 3 90pt exams to get an A. The various stats and test-stats are super easy to get with a little practice you can make them nearly intuitive. Do all your even chapter problems to study. Her lectures ARE bad, but they supplement well when you're doing HW BEFOREhand. ...Continue reading

i think she is not that bad, i was reading the other reviews and i don't agree with most of them because she's not that bad, she tries to make u laugh sometimes because she knows that the material i hard , she's great , does her best to help u pass this class I never really paid attention during lecture, but always wrote down her notes from the practice problems at the end of class! If you actually make an effort in the class you won't get anything lower than a D. She understands that this class is your last step to Eller! She doesn't like to ruin your life. ...Continue reading

Dr. Uma specifies very clearly at the beginning of the semester that you will not do well unless you read for all exams and attend all lectures and pay attention. Labs help if you have a good TA. Tests are tricky but often curved and homework and lab assignment credit boosts your grade quite a bit. To Dr. Umashankar's credit statistics comes naturally to almost no one so it's a tough subject regardless of who teaches it. ...Continue reading

If you do all the labs, homeworks and look over practice problems for the exam, you'll pass. The tests had 15-17 mc questions each worth 6 points and they are 73% of your grade. She is pretty entertaining but in order to do well on the tests you have to do a lot of work outside of class. Attendance mandatory for every class and lab. Most of her lecture is not helpful except when she does the problems at the end of each class. I feel like the lab instructor was more helpful at teaching. His entertains the class through his humors and is so far the best professor I have taken at the University of Arizona. He serves the definition of a true, caring professor. Brent is always willing to help out if you ask him, you just have to ask him! He can get side tracked in class but his tangents are funny. He is funny and relatable. If you ask he most likely will give you an additional resource or post materials from lecture online. Read the book because that's where most test questions come from. Walks you directly through the labs so you can get an A every time. ...Continue reading
