He understands what he is teaching. He has a website with all the problems we went over in class and if we don't finish he will have the solutions on the website. He is always sarcastic and does make you feel like you are stupid when he answers your questions. However, he is better than other teachers I had before. ...Continue reading

Mrs. Wood to me was an above average math teacher, comparatively speaking to the other math teachers in UofA. The biggest thing to complain about in this class is homework. Online assignments, written work out of textbooks, and worksheets. It was overkill, but her class was very helpful. ...Continue reading

I had taken calculus the year before this class, and during this class I learned some things about equations I did not know before. She got the point across over all her lectures, and she did make sure that people understood the material right. However, she assigns a lot of homework daily, at least 3 hours, and she grades pretty harshly on it. She is a fantastic teacher who really does a great job at explaining math. I hate math and actually understood the stuff in her class. With that said, way too much homework and I fell asleep numerous times throughout her lecture. ...Continue reading

Ewa assumes that her students already know most of the material and is horrible at answering questions. Incredibly difficult to follow and sort of all over the place. She has incredibly high standards for this class. I've always enjoyed math but she ruined this class for me. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. I only passed this class because I taught myself everything for the final. A student will ask her something and she blatantly ignores the question and starts going on about something else. Honestly, I learned nothing in this class and her teaching styles are awful. If you have a choice, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES. ...Continue reading

I only had this teacher for 3 weeks, and I'm so glad. She gives so much homework, I had no time for anything else. Every class is the same: show up, lecture, take notes, and leave. Nothing interesting or different. Her grading is SUPER picky, as well. My recommendation: just don't. ...Continue reading

I really liked having Professor Jewell, despite the fast nature of Math 122A, I thought he did a great job of explaining each of the topics in a way that made them easy to understand and easy to remember. She is an OK teacher. All we did in class were quizzes and easy examples, so when we did our homework we were constantly stumped by difficult problems that we had no clue how to do. Foster is very goofy but he is the best Math professor at the U of A. He gives many example in class and breaks things down so they are easy to understand. She is available for office hours at least 3 hours a day, and her lectures are logical and concise. If you have a lot of other time intensive courses, do not take this class with her. But if you plan to continue to Calc 2, she is simply the best. She does give a lot of homework, but it really helps you learn and isn't just busy work. However, she works very hard to make sure her students do well.
