    The workload is insane!!! She does give a lot of extra credit. Albeit, a very demanding teacher. But, you will learn a lot from her. If you do your work, you will do well in her class, if not.... well.     DIFFICULT!!! She is a great professor that makes understanding the information very simple and easy. She is clear when she speaks and really makes you understand the material. If you don't like her as a teacher you wont like anyone. Take chemistry with her and you will do well. She was the sweetest teacher I have ever had!     She is an amazing professor. She doesn't usually respond to emails because she usually recieves too many. She is really nice and she teaches really well, however, the workload is insane and she will cause you some problem during the semester, even if you do everything correctly. Good luck and GBU. do the OWLs, do her practice tests (find old ones too, they help with practice) and GO TO QUIZ. her tests can be tricky but if you know and UNDERSTAND the material inside and out you will get an A no problem. only thing is she gives way too much online work ...Continue reading

    barber is GOOD, anyone that doesnt do well in this class puts effort into doing poorly. Class gets easier as you go. Some people say the OWL homework is useless, but I disagree. She explains the material thoroughly and she even makes herself available after class or during her office hours to help you if you do not understand a certain concept. However, Dr. Barber often assigns homework before it is taught in class, which is awful, because you have to do all the homework correctly and on time to qualify for the exams, and there is a lot!     GO TO CLASS!! Lectures were clear. Gives partial credit on exams which helps alot. She sometimes takes attendance so come to class (Clicker points), and almost everything she goes over in class will be on the exam. Also, its a good idea to form a study group for homework and quizzes. An A is definitely doable if you attend lecture. She is VERY clear.     Meet her when taking the class. Her class was very clear and she was consistent. Maybe its because the material is so easy, but for an incoming freshman, it was a delight to have her as my first, of many, chem teachers. She really knows her material! When you see that you are having trouble, go to her. Online homework- OWL (pain in the butt). Shes a sweet teacher, and is very tough. Short answer tests and exams. She does review sessions before and after class if its necessary. She has very good lecture notes with examples.     She is a great Professor. The Exams seem to be graded harsh however, so do all of the OWL homework, and answer the clicker questions. Exam questions are taken from quiz class/lecture/end of the chapter review. She goes very slow and makes sure the class understands (which can be a drag sometimes). Unfortunately, her tests are long for the amount of time given, and she can sometimes belittle you. The online OWL homework is very frustrating.     Very helpful, her tests are very hard, but she is a great teacher, che really can teach which is a plus for Chem prof. at WSU Good professor. She can be a little sassy at times, but that didn't bother me. Do the owl hw, attend class to get clicker points and understand problems, and you're good to go. Make sure to study for exams and do the practice exams she posts on bb. Just watch the time you spend on each problem on her exams - they are lengthy and if you can't answer the questions in about a minuet and a half you will have a hard time finishing them. ...Continue reading

    For me, chemistry is not my strong point but Dr. Maguire makes this class interesting. He contradicts himself by saying the book sucks and teach it his way, YET base his exams off of the book.     Best professor I have EVER had. She genuinely cares about the student, on the academic and individual level. The best for establishing a solid foundation in Chemistry. You have to work for your grade, like in any Chemistry course, but she makes it all fun and engaging. Awesome human being, and I wish I could take her for Gen Chem. Showed up once every two weeks and still passed the course. EchoCenter will be your friend during exam times. Her reviews are spot on.     I was nervous to take chemistry in college because I had a bad experience with it in high school. Lectures are clear, she gives EXACT questions that will be on exams sometimes too. Exams are written, but gives partial credit. Learn your stuff and you won't have a hard time. I managed to get A without much work. Gives lots of extra credit!!! She tells you exactly what type of problems to expect and what you have to know and what you don't. You don't need the book, even though she requires it.     I LOVED HER! She cares about her students so much I wanted to cry. So, unbelievably easy too while teaching you all of the important material. Lectures were actually fun to attend, she's so funny! You don't need the book, homework isn't bad, tests are easy, does iclicker. Btw, she's drop-dead gorgeous... Worth a small percent of your grade. Tests are difficult but nothing she doesn't prepare you for. She is obviously passionate about chemistry and it shows in her lectures. The grading on exams is fair as long as you show your work.     amazing teacher would love to take classes with her again Not only does she make chemistry interesting but also often puts it in to relatable terms. The exams were hard but she gives you what you need to succeed. She truely cares and wants you to not only do well in this class but for your classes to come. I highly recommend taking her class.     Dr. Matti is an exceptional professor. Her ratings are too low. She deserves a 10/5. That's how good of an experience I had with her. If you do all homework, do practice from the book, go to office hours to ask for help, you will easily get an A. Don't forget to do the extra credit opportunities she offers.     amazing teacher would love to take classes with her again Not only does she make chemistry interesting but also often puts it in to relatable terms. The exams were hard but she gives you what you need to succeed. She truely cares and wants you to not only do well in this class but for your classes to come. I highly recommend taking her class. Attend and study and you will do well. I think she's one of my favorite profs. at WSU. She does push you, but only because she cares. She gave SO much extra credit.
