It's a great school-but it really is up to you what you make out of it. Would really recommend it to anyone looking for an education and career in the fashion industry. Also, if you love business and fashion, FIT's FMM department is a perfect major for you. I will say that the connections and opportunities you have are what you make it! If you are conscientious it will pay off. Good luck. ...Continue reading

The school is great. I can't think of a single bad thing about the school except dorm visitation. Love the classes, love the buildings, love the food. I love FIT! There is always something to do at anytime of the day, you just gotta find it and explore. Some people at FIT are rude and nasty but there are some really great people there. The professors are great and this school is full of opportunity. Be active and involved with this school. ...Continue reading

The fashion design classrooms need to be updated! Best thing thats ever happened to me. But also the most tiresome, workfilled, all consuming thing. All the work wouldn't be so bad if there was a normal place to sit down and relax or lounge or breath. But usually kids are laying on radiators, work tables, and awkward cement slabs outside. The learning is exceptional though. Fashion Design, prepare to be miserable, FBM is like a breeze. ...Continue reading

Hard as a commuter to make friends. The girls here try way too hard to look trendy every day and it's annoying. F.I.T has a really good reputation, however, my professors didn't live up to my expectations most of them were rude and didn't want to help. Teachers who were great were usually for classes like poetry or yoga, etc. Not much of a social school, if you come here I would say it would be for design. Happy to say I went here, but definitely not for me. ...Continue reading

Very Happy with my decision to come here. I was taking upwards of 9 classes a semester. I'm in the Advertising and Marketing Communications major and I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. FIT has a great reputation and companies specifically want FIT students as interns. There's so many incredible opportunities!! ...Continue reading

I love FIT! you have to get used to it but it's amazing here and the best school for the price!!! They have so many communication problems that your patience will be tested. Communication is horrible by phone. It's best to go in directly or email someone specifically for help. Location is convenient. The effort to improve the look of the campus is improving. FIT runs on its reputation. ...Continue reading

The students are awful. Not all of them, but most of them are spoiled, rich, NYC wannabes who have a passion for fashion. You'll find some amazing professors. The only thing that makes FIT worth it is the fact that it's in New York otherwise no one would come. Transferring as soon as possible. Don't come here! ...Continue reading

Great school to learn technique and construction of garments, as for the art classes I was disappointed. There are endless connections. If you're serious about fashion, you need to be here. Students who don't care for this school, may not be as focused or passionate. Attending class is a must. Take advantage of all the resources around you. It's an amazing institution and I'm proud to be a student here. There are friendly people and things to do on campus, but you have to put in the effort and look for it. You can't expect everything to come to you. Overall, I think FIT is a great school. ...Continue reading

This school is suppose to be known for opportunities, but when I went to my internship meeting my advisor asked me who I know.... Old, broken easels, broken stools the art classrooms are gross and aren't practical. The area is boring and depressing. OUTDATED CURRICULUM! Some great profs, others so awful they ruined my experience. Bursar/registration is rude and unhelpful. It felt more like a highschool to me ...Continue reading

Love this school and I just completed my AAS and already have job. Especially transferring from LIM College. That is another fashion school in the city. But you get a better education here for less. Also the networking and location far exceed that of LIM in addition to the dorms being much closer to the school itself. ...Continue reading

If you're a fashion design major, you're in good hands because this school is so specialized for fashion! They dont respect students, some of the teachers are incredibly insulting and racist, and they give out an intense amount of hw, like you're going to school for law. Most of the admissions staff and registrars staff is clueless ...Continue reading

FIT is very studious with their fashion majors! As a design student, I have less of a social life than I used to, and am working harder than I ever thought I could FIT is a workplace. Urban campus + career driven atmosphere not so typical college experience. Overall, I'm very happy here and have made wonderful friends. ...Continue reading

It's an awesome school!! The second year you start interning and real life begins. After that once you get adjusted to NYC, the school, the people there, life gets a whole lot better there. So much opportunity. ...Continue reading

Only here for the name so it's easier to find a job. Go to cooper union. Maybe even go abroad or to scad if you love campus life. But do not come here to FIT. The staff is BEYOND incompetent the education is soso and the students are pretentious Kanye Kardashian wanna be's. It's a hard place to tolerate. Fashion institute of TECHNOLOGY but nothing works The school doesn't care about you unless you're in a fashion related major. Peers are super elitest. The professors are the saving grace, in my opinion. The dorms are really nice (apartment style). The school is falling apart though. Wish I went to a normal school with an actual campus. ...Continue reading

Came here as a senior transfer student in a 3+1 program. do not come here if you want to have fun on campus and meet friends. Unless you have friends in the city it's so hard to meet people on campus. a lot of students commute and no one hangs out around the dorms at night. NO BOYS!! :( Everyone is running around with their head cut off no one knows anyone and no one knows how to do their job they give you the run around and create more issues for you as a student. Make sure you keep track of everything cos they dont. ...Continue reading
