JMU has a beautiful campus, teaching faculty is great, lots of academic and social opportunities. While JMU is more academically challenging, some ways are not in the right ways. I've had a handful of good professors, but many do not care about the students & aren't very understanding. Also, often an 89.999 is a B+, not an A- are pretty common no wiggle room. ...Continue reading

JMU is a fantastic school in every way. Within just a few weeks, I began calling this place home. The professors are great, the food is amazing, they have any club you can possibly want, and the opportunities are endless. When people ask me how I like college, I love being able to say I wouldn't rather be anywhere else. Courses are interesting and challenging. The location is almost perfect always something pretty and scenic to look at from ever corner of campus. The parties are out of this world you won't find better parties at any other campus, hands down. Food is practically gourmet compared to other schools. (4th in the nation) ...Continue reading

Good school, but hard. The school is OKAY if you are going for a quality education. You don't really have to do anything but show up most of the time and cram to easily make Bs. It seems like you have to work hard in high school and do pretty well on you SATs to get in and then once you are in you don't have to keep up the work. The classes are not so hard that you want to rip your hair out, but also not so easy that you feel like you wasted 100 grand on opportunities to drink warm, cheap beer. There's also a lot of cool stuff to do both on campus and downtown. It's been a pretty good four years. ...Continue reading

DO NOT TAKE THIS GENED!! This is probably the worst class I have taken. He expects you to know everything about music like its your major. He blows through powerpoints and expects you to actually be able to take notes that quick. He only lectures on what is exactly in the textbook, so just read the book. Overall, 0/10 would not recommend. ...Continue reading

Dr. Vidal was hands down the best professor I have ever had at JMU! He is so nice and approachable. He makes really hard material a lot easier to understand. He is very straight forward about what you do and do not need to know for the exams. I loved taking lab with him, 10/10, would recommend. He genuinely cares so much about teaching and is always there to answer questions. He wants you to succeed and works so hard to help you. THIS IS THE BEST PROF AT JMU. he is honestly the most caring and helpful teacher i have ever had... if you have trouble with bus classes take him. if i did more on my end, i couldve easily received an A. He takes teaching to a whole new level and every lecture and note section is given to you. amazing man. jmu should give him an award. Yes, it's definitely a hard class but he makes it tolerable. He really enjoys teaching this class and is always in a good mood. You really need to put in the work if you want a good grade. Goes easy on grading, and is definitely more than willing to help. He bought our class about $50+ of cardstock flash cards to help us study!! ...Continue reading

Unclear about exactly what she wants within her assignments and grades speeches ridiculously tough. A lot of the time young teachers like to establish themselves as not being a pushover or not being an easy A, and that was the case with Katrina. Your grade really does depend on your group and she grades the speeches extremely tough. I definitely would not recommend anyone take her especially your freshman year. SCOM should be an easy grade for your GPA as long as you do your work. ...Continue reading

If you're going to take physiology, do it with Parker! Physiology is a hard course regardless but he explains it in a way that is easier to understand. He says that attendance is not mandatory, however you will do much better if you attend lectures because he hints at what will be on the test. Fantastic professor overall He was really personable and took the time get to know his students, which most professors don't bother doing. DO NOT TAKE THIS GENED!! This is probably the worst class I have taken. He expects you to know everything about music like its your major. Overall, 0/10 would not recommend. ...Continue reading
