Eau Claire could be better, but it could be worse too. Certain faculty members are the reason I stayed at this college. By far the best college I have attended (3 total). As of 2016 the entire UW-System was tense due to major budget cuts. I hope that UWEC can maintain their standards in the future In terms of staff, safety, and overall experience I would say it has been positive and fairly rewarding. The most difficult obstacle I have faced is finding an internship. Many are in Milwaukee or out of state which doesn't really allow me to pursue them. ...Continue reading

Absolutely phenomenal school, the only exception is Governor's Hall. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else! Medium sized, not too big not too small. They have good programs, competitive but not unrealistic. Professors clearly care about you doing well and aren't just there for research. Location is good so that there aren't busy streets you need to cross to get to class. Lots of options for learning and fun. ...Continue reading

UWEC is the best. I couldnt be happier! The bridge is across a river, and it is awful. Other than that the campus is beautiful with lots of trees and plenty of lovely landscape to look at. Audrey is seriously amazing. She's very understanding and non-judgemental. She's a great professor! Such a sweetheart! The nicest prof I've had & ive been at UWEC for 3 years. Such a sweetheart-really cares about helping you learn the material. Lot of class discussion & papers but not too many. Daily homework (it is a 5 credit course) but not overwhelming by any means. Definitely recommend this course w/ this prof. Is a tad harder on grading. ...Continue reading

Jeff is a really great professor! He wants his students to understand the information, and if any questions are asked he is willing to take the time to answer them. I would definitely take a course taught by this professor again! ...Continue reading

Since everyone has posted really positive responses... DeGrave is nice and tries to make classes not boring at all costs. He gives you a good study guide for the exam, but coming from someone who doesn't care about geography at all, you need to study the exam review for at least 3 hours to get a A/B on the exam. ...Continue reading

His accent can be difficult for the first few classes but after that you learn to understand like most professors. The class is hard in general and his accent makes it a little harder. If you put in the work you will do fine. ...Continue reading

He is not a bad professor. He knows what he is talking about and really wants you to learn it. A bit hard to understand sometimes but not impossible. He gives you credit for attempting the HW and those points help a lot. Super enthusiastic and funny. A great professor. The class in general is challenging. He has an accent which makes understanding him a bit challenging. ...Continue reading

Pros and cons Pros: Easy to manage homework both in groups and on your own Tests are short and simple same with quizzes Cons: Doesn't give make ups even if you had to miss a test/quiz Doesn't explain concepts very well Hard to understand but you get used to it I recommend any other professor than her. Absolutly the worst. Very smart but she doesn't teach the material. I had to teach myself every section. The tests are torcherous and the quizes just as bad. Worst class ever. Don't take it with her if you don't have to. ...Continue reading

Fairly easy, especially if you're Geography. The course material is very easy as long as you have a basic knowledge of how the world works. Only a handful (4) of easy but time consuming homework. Tests are pretty easy. He is hilarious though and lecture always flies by. I would recommend taking Geog111 with DeGrave ...Continue reading

She gives out packets that go along with her notes and she wants students to do well. She goes over things in class and gives you time in class to work on homework and ask questions as needed. Exams are difficult but study a little and you will do fine. ...Continue reading

I loved Professor Kaldjian. You really are graded only on three big tests and four or five assignments. Make sure to put your all into the assignments, and READ THE TEXTBOOK! The tests are almost a hundred questions a piece. It is as important to understand the book, if not more, as it is your notes. Though at times his lectures were boring, I felt as if he made them as interesting as possible. I would recommend taking him, but make sure that you aren't late, try and attend as many classes as possible and be prepared to do some serious studying. ...Continue reading

Dr. Leibham is my absolute favorite professor at UWEC. She is nice and more helpful than most professors, but she's definitely going to make you work. I recommend this class if you are highly interested in child development, have time to do the work, and want a teacher who knows what she is talking about. She makes lecture interesting and really makes connections between the material and everyday life (she uses examples of her kids a lot which are usually hilarious). Great professor, very inspirational. ...Continue reading

Gives lots of chances to get points back on tests and online quizzes. You can do a little extra credit too. Helpful in office hours but she sometimes only explains things one way. Do the homework because all of the quiz questions are from the assigned problems. ...Continue reading

If you're good at geography, you'll get an A. The guy has a memory condition where he can't remember people's faces, so you can skip all you want. That said, you he has some obscure references in his lectures, so I recommend just sitting on your phone in class and half-listening to the lecture. You'll do fine. ...Continue reading

I have heard horrible things about accounting, but this was not a difficult class. Thompson made it easier, she really stresses the important parts of accounting and her quizzes are good review for her exams, sometimes word for word. Ezra is a good dude. Ezra made me VERY interested in human geography. He's young so he can relate well to his students. His lectures are very interesting, I barely missed any. His tests are really hard so study a lot! Otherwise highly recommend this class & professor! He's personable and actually kept me interested in a subject that I thought I'd find boring. My tips are find a good seat in the front few rows, and go to review sessions. He answers questions directly from the study guide and even seems happy to help. I definitely recommend him. ...Continue reading

I struggle with math and so I knew I would struggle with Calc 2. Duffy gives many examples in class and really goes beyond what most professors do to help you understand the material. She's really fun, and I would take a class with her again! She really cares about her students, and her class isn't too bad if you are willing to put in the effort. Certainly not an easy A, but if you work hard, it is possible. ...Continue reading

She's a nice person and some of the tests are so difficult, and the final exam is hard and even includes lots of things that she didn't talk in class, but this maybe because of the accounting department. She kind of rambles on in class and is super friendly before class starts. At the end of the semester she curves all the tests. I had a D- and ended up with a B. Take her the curve but you have to work hard. I attended every class and learned nothing, I had to teach myself everything. But she is nice and will give you extra credit if you go to her and ask for it. ...Continue reading

Professor Duffy is one of my favorite professors at UWEC. Duffy was incredibly helpful during office hours and offered extra credit, I failed almost every quiz, but because of that extra credit I passed the class. Notes don't match exams and quizzes. Grades hw on completion so just attempt it. Thought there would be a curve at the end of the class but there wasn't which was annoying. He likes to preach his opinion during elections, but other than that he was a good professor. Projects were easy, but you definitely need to study for tests. Study guides did not always include all of the information that would be on the test, so reading the textbook is necessary at times. Lectures were long. Ryan is there for you if you need help, just ask for it. It was a pretty easy class, I should've studied a little more for the tests but that was my effort! He is really nice and you get points for going to class. I would recommend this class with him! ...Continue reading

I am not a huge science person so my answer may be a little biased. I didn't love this class. The tests were HARD. I'm not sure how many others feel this way about her tests, but be prepared to study your butt off. Her papers help lift your grade a bit. She gives you some extra credit and syllabus is really well put together, though. Not my fave. ...Continue reading

Pedro is the best professor I had in my 4 years at UWEC. Reading the chapters before they're taught in class helps a lot. Pedro is extremely smart so some of the things went over my head, but he was very helpful during office hours. Exams are difficult but not impossible if you prepare well. Not difficult to get a decent grade in if you put the work in. Most importantly, he knows the way of teaching. I never feel bored in his class because he sometimes switches from lecture to in-class problem practice, or ask the students questions, which keep our brains running all the time. ...Continue reading
