I loved Truman! This may be speaking about colleges in general, but it really is what you make of it. There are plenty of clubs, activities, hobbies, and ideas you will pick up along the way. You just have to be sure to apply yourself. There is definitely no shortage of resources to capitalize on at Truman. Lots of opportunity and connections. Challenging and I love it. ...Continue reading

Truman is amazing and filled with opportunities. Put in the best effort. And profs are always there for you it seems. However, this is the awesome college for the people who really want to study and get the opportunities to reach the goals. ...Continue reading

A wonderful school full of opportunities! The opportunities I have had to work on a one-to-one basis with professors is invaluable, and their recommendations were great. Truman gave me the resume that I needed to receive grants effortlessly. Yes it sucks that you're in the middle of no where with not a lot of options of things to do off campus. The school itself is fantastic though. The professors are very personable and will help you with anything you need. There are also a multitude of clubs and organizations to join. ...Continue reading

Truman really is what you make of it. Sure there are some bad professors but overall the quality of education is pretty good. Also the college has a great reputation in the midwest. Kirksville isn't the most exciting place but it's nice for a small town and has most everything you need. I don't regret my decision to come here at all! The quad is beautiful in the springtime and they fixed some of the wobbly bricks on the mall which is a great improvement over what it used to be. People may be a little nerdy, but most everyone is really nice. Plus I'm not going totally into debt paying for my education here so I can't complain too much. ...Continue reading

Great environment with a great education. Not a great location but facilities are excellent and leadership is superb. I was very happy with my choice. Truman is a great place full of opportunities and great academics. The same goes for grades, by no means easy. The traffic is not bad (except around 3:00), and there are plenty of things to do if you look for them. The internet and food can be difficult, but the campus, organizations, and library more than make up for them. Especially the library. The library is GREAT! ...Continue reading

I didn't want to come here, but I ended up here for the cost and it is everything I could have dreamed for. I'm a sophomore now at Truman, and I absolutely love it! Professors care about you and most will learn your name. Decent school with decent reputation. Never have I once felt mistreated because of my race. I enjoy that most students here are very intellectual and fun! I'm glad to have chosen a medium sized college, rather than a bigger one. College is what you make it, I love Truman! I absolutely love it here. The classes are small, everyone actually wants to help you succeed, unlimited tutoring opportunities, and so much more. Truman is a great school, but it is what you make it. Working in groups has been great. Truman students r very dynamic go getters about their studies. Everywhere inside the academic buildings has lots of couches and tables and chairs for study. Students are polite and have graduated in the top % of their high school graduating class. There ARE things to do, you just have to be creative and adventurous. I love that it's different from the big city where I've spent the first 18 years of my life. I learned to live without shopping malls! Internet and food options could be better here. It's been a good time anyway. ...Continue reading

I think this is all my fault that coming to this college without thinking and preparing for it. Many credits don't transfer to other colleges, but once you get into your major and are taking stricktly major classes it's not bad. And Kirksville sucks! The professors, with a few exceptions, care about the students and their education. Kirksville is small, which can be a problem, but it offers multiple ways to overcome this problem. I would choose Truman again. Purely from an academic standpoint, I'm glad I went here. (Most) professors really care and what I'm learning is valuable & helpful to my career. Graduating in May! It's worth it but I've also seen this school break kids. Expect to pull several all-nighters. Study abroad experience was great. Teachers are usually fabulous but other staff (I.e. secretaries) can be horrible to work with. You will not only learn about academics but will develop critical thinking. I enjoyed my time there, and the education was worth it! The courses are challenging but the professors are extremely helpful. BONUS: the campus is super pretty during the fall and spring season! ...Continue reading

Truman is a small, quiet campus in the middle of Nowhere, Northeast Missouri. The workload isn't easy, but it's a great education at an affordable price. Kirksville isn't the most exciting town, but there are always plenty of ways to get involved on campus. The people at Truman are great. Truman was the right choice for me. Campus is beautiful along with the people ...Continue reading

Overall, it's a great school as long as you're willing to do the work to succeed. There are a plethora of clubs, social organizations, and activities to choose from. You will get overloaded and your stress level will be at 110%. The location sucks, but that's why it's so cheap. Very few internships in Kville, so plan to spend one summer at home for that. ...Continue reading

Truman offers a great education, it is a tough school but prepares you. This place is what you make it, and if you want to go out and party all the time, then go. If you want to stay in, then stay in. If you want to run around campus just enjoying the fact that you're here, then do it. Just make it what you want! ...Continue reading

You don't have to overload on credits and most credits transfer. Really this place just feels likes home and I couldn't have picked anywhere better. I have already made a ton of new friends. ...Continue reading

An absolutely great place to go! Beautiful campus with most of the campus dorms recently renovated. It's a dry campus but there's still a fair amount of Greek life. The university does a fairly good job of bringing interesting acts to campus, musicians and comedians etc. ...Continue reading

Campus is beautiful, with a great faculty, student body, and library. Extremely competitive and you will work you a@* off but if you want an excellent liberal arts education, Truman can't be beat! Not many places to go out and eat off campus, but besides that great school! ...Continue reading

Kirksville is a good town to be in. You do have to work for your classes (even if you, like most of us students, never once studied in high school), but a lot of the professors are passionate and willing to help out. Yeah, it's everything you'd expect from a small town, but Columbia isn't far! ...Continue reading

As a woman of color, I thought I would have trouble going to a school that is prominently White, and a rural area. I met the best friends of my life during my four years here. If I had to do it all over again, I would pick Truman every time! Go Bulldogs! ...Continue reading

This was my second choice school, but coming here was the best choice I've made. Like any college, the most important thing to do to be happy at Truman is to join clubs and make friends. The people here are what make it a phenomenal experience. It's the perfect college if you want a college that's not too big and inexpensive. It also has a great reputation with employers and grad schools. ...Continue reading

It may be small, but it really is a home away from home. Honestly, It is extremely isolated, in a small Missouri town of about 17,000 peeps, but that's what I prefer, so I'm cool with it. Beautiful campus!!! :D Great for almost any major. ...Continue reading

This college is in really small town so the people who want to have a party every day won't like this college at all. The campus is really nice and all of the people are nice too! There are tons of clubs to join and things going on around campus. Kirksville isn't the nicest town, but it isn't too bad. Overall I love everything about Truman and am so glad I chose this college! ...Continue reading

Truman is a school that prepares you for graduate school. I did not do any research or anything about this school. I just came here because some of my high school friends came here. I just came here with them. There are so many professors that do not care about your situation or anything. Campus isn't miserable, but Kirksville is a royal mess. Closest town worth visiting is over 1.5 hours away. ...Continue reading

Quaint. As a public liberal arts and sciences university, it feels like a private school but at a public price. The community of people that I have met here is fabulous and the education is fabulous. Although Kirksville is small, there's plenty to do offered by the University. Great value school! The professors are professional, and most care about students' long term success. ...Continue reading

Don't exactly love it here. Be prepared to study your @$$ off if you want to do well. Professors are condescending and make things harder than they need to be bc they think they need to keep their rep up. Ppl say Enjoy College! Well, do it somewhere other than TSU, bc you don't have time to socialize. Transferring out this semester!!!!! ...Continue reading
