I love it here! You will get out of YSU what you put into it. If you come here and just go to class then go back home. You'll hate it. But if you get involved and put in the effort, you'll love it here. ...Continue reading

Extremely under rated. All you ever hear about is the crime. Unfortunately the school seems so get tagged with that same reputation. This is not accurate. The campus is beautiful and the facilities are very well maintained. YSU is a great school. They offer great extracarricular activities from Greek Life to groups pertaining to your specific major. The Recreation Center on campus also does a great job at getting students involved. I enjoy all of my classes and I think it is a great school to put on a resume. ...Continue reading

It is affordable, and I love it here. I went to other schools and got A's without trying but learned nothing compared to YSU's classes. As far as social events, there's barely anything going on. It's strictly a commuter campus so don't plan on dorming here either. The only complaint about this school is the parking. Parking passes have doubled in price, and there's less parking space since I started here and tickets are given for ridiculous things. ...Continue reading

YSU is what you make of it. As a commuter it does the job. My only complaint is really just about the area. The end of the fall and start of the spring semesters are miserable because of the weather. I graduated with BA exercise science. Department needs to put ego aside because I hear bragging but that does not help anyone but the bragger. I liked some of my professors. I am a female and will say a lot of the female professors are hungry for attention and need a attitude adjustment. ...Continue reading

SO many things are happening on campus with President Tressel and a more active campus committee. It doesn't get any better if you're a STEM major. Faculty is helpful for the most part, as long as you make an effort. Honors college is very reputable. Being a commuter school, not as much going on as you would like, but head downtown on the weekends and it is a different story. ...Continue reading

It's in Youngstown, but the campus is fairly nice. Scheduling is extremely difficult though. Since most students at YSU were already living in the Youngstown area, you see a lot of people you know which can be a good or bad thing depending how you take it. Getting out in 4 years is virtually impossible, because classes that students need are only offered certain semesters. Parking is terrible - be prepared to park way out in the middle of nowhere even though parking passes are a whopping $100 these days. They don't care about their students... they only care about the MONEY. If you live near by and are looking for an affordable education, it's great. If you want to live on campus and get the college experience look elsewhere. Very little goes on here and many weekends are spent being bored. ...Continue reading
