False Intersection Point Problem: Plot on the same screen the limaons r1 = 3 + 2 sin r2

Chapter 13, Problem 9

(choose chapter or problem)

False Intersection Point Problem: Plot on the same screen the limaons r1 = 3 + 2 sin r2 = 3 2 sin ( 180) Use simultaneous mode and path style. Describe what you observe about the point at which each graph is being plotted and the final graphs. Tracing to a particular value of on the final graphs might help. Then plot the circle r3 = 4. Show that the false intersection of r3 with r2 is the true intersection of r3 with r1. From what you have observed, write instructions that could be used to find the false intersections of two polar curves.
