The data in Exercises 21–24 are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The following table gives the percentage of females over the age of 16 in the civilian population that are employed in January of each of the years listed.

On the basis of these data, a statistician suggests that the following formula can be used to approximate the female employment rate R in January of the years 1993 through 1998:

\(R=-0.03 x^{2}+0.9 x+51.4\)

where x = 3 corresponds to 1993, x = 4 corresponds to 1994, and so on.

(a) Use this formula to compute R for each of the years 1993 through 1998.

(b) Compare the values collected by the Department of Labor with the values obtained from the formula, and comment about the accuracy of the formula.
