Chapter 5, Problem 45

(choose chapter or problem)

A quality-control inspector finds that the number of defective items that a worker produced is linearly related to the number of overtime hours that worker put in. If the worker put in \(8\) overtime hours, there were \(12\) defective items produced; and if the worker put in \(10\) overtime hours, there were \(17\) defective items produced. Write an equation relating the number of overtime hours and the number of defective items, and use this equation to predict the number of defective items you would expect to find if the worker puts in \(20\) overtime hours.
