?Suppose that a charge-transfer transition in a one-dimensional system can be modelled

Chapter 11, Problem E11F.11(b)

(choose chapter or problem)

Suppose that a charge-transfer transition in a one-dimensional system can be modelled as a process in which an electron described by a rectangular wavefunction that is non-zero in the range 0 ≤ x ≤ a makes a transition to another rectangular wavefunction that is non-zero in the range ca ≤ x ≤ a where 0 ≤ c ≤ 1. Evaluate the transition moment \(\int \psi_{\mathrm{i}} x \psi_{\mathrm{i}} \mathrm{d} x\) and explore its dependence on c. Hint: Don’t forget to normalize each wavefunction to 1.
