?For a pressure-explicit equation of state, prove that the Joule/Thomson inversion curve

Chapter 7, Problem 7.13

(choose chapter or problem)

For a pressure-explicit equation of state, prove that the Joule/Thomson inversion curve is the locus of states for which:

\(T (\frac {∂Z}{∂T})_{ρ} =  ρ(\frac {∂Z}{∂ρ})_{T}\)

Apply this equation to (a) the van der Waals equation; (b) the Redlich/Kwong equation. Discuss the results.

Text Transcription:

T (∂Z / ∂T)_ρ =  ρ(∂Z / ∂ρ)_T
