Chapter 10, Problem 10.14

(choose chapter or problem)

For a particular binary liquid solution at constant T and P, the molar enthalpies of mixtures are represented by the equation

\(H=x_{1}\left(a_{1}+b_{1} x_{1}\right)+x_{2}\left(a_{2}+b_{2} x_{2}\right)\)

where the \(a_{i} \text { and } b_{i}\) are constants. Because the equation has the form of Eq. (10.11), it might be that \(\bar{H}_{i}=a_{i}+b_{i} x_{i}\). Show whether this is true.

Text Transcription:

H = x_1(a_1 + b_1x_1) + x_2(a_2 + b_2x_2)

a_i and b_i

barH_i = a_i + b_ix_i
