QUESTION:

What would be the path of the Moon if somehow all gravitational forces on it vanished to zero?

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

Due to the gravitational force of attraction between Earth and the Moon, the Moon moves in an elliptical orbit. Due to this force, the velocity of the Moon keeps on changing as it moves from one point to another in its orbit and at any instant the direction of its velocity is along the tangent at that point.
