Problem 5Q
Suppose you are looking along a line through the centers of two circular (but separate) wire loops, one behind the other. A battery is suddenly connected to the front loop, establishing a clockwise current, (a) Will a current be induced in the second loop? (b) If so. when does this current start? (c) When does it stop? (d) In what direction is this current? (e) Is there a force between the two loops? (f) If so. in what direction?

Problem 5Q

A battery is suddenly connected to the front loop, establishing a clockwise current, (a) Will a current be induced in the second loop? (b) If so. when does this current start? (c) When does it stop? (d) In what direction is this current? (e) Is there a force between the two loops? (f) If so. in what direction?
ANSWER:
Step-by-step solution
Step 1 of 6
a)
As soon as the battery is connected to the first loop, electric current in the loop starts to increase from zero to its constant value. By the way magnetic field produced by the current increases from zero to its certain value. That magnetic field produced in the first loop passes through the second loop too. The changing magnetic flux through the second loop induces elelectric current in second loop.
