In this chapter, we discuss the line vortex (Fig.P10-116) as an example of an irrotational flow field. The velocity components are ur = 0, uθ = Γ(2πr), and u z = 0. Compute the viscous term, of the θ-component of the Navier-Stokes equation, and discuss. Verify that this velocity field is indeed irrotational by computing the z-bomponent of vorticity.
