Answer: A museum of modern art is displaying an irregular
Chapter 11, Problem 54P(choose chapter or problem)
A museum of modern art is displaying an irregular \(426-\mathrm{N}\) sculpture by hanging it from two thin vertical wires, A and B, that are \(1.25 \mathrm{~m}\) apart (Fig. P11.54). The center of gravity of this piece of art is located \(48.0 \mathrm{~cm}\) from its extreme right tip. Find the tension in each wire.

ANSWER:
Solution 54P
Step 1:
Here, we have to find out the forces acting on vertical wires A and B while it is keeping an irregular sculpture in equilibrium.
Since, the system is in equilibrium, we can write, the total moment acting upon the system is zero
That is,
So, the total moment of the system is due to the force due to wire A, FA which is acting in upward direction. The force due to the weight of the sculpture which is acting downward in direction and force due to the wire B, FB which is acting upward.
