Suppose that a circular parallel-plate capacitor hasradius

Chapter 31, Problem 31.7

(choose chapter or problem)

Suppose that a circular parallel-plate capacitor hasradius R0 = 3.0 cm and plate separation d = 5.0 mm. Asinusoidal potential difference V = V0 sin (2-77ft) is appliedacross the plates, where Vq = 150 V and / = 60 Hz. (a) Inthe region between the plates, show that the magnitude ofthe induced magnetic field is given by B = B0(R) cos(2ttft),where R is the radial distance from the capacitors centralaxis. (b) Determine the expression for the amplitude B0(R)of this time-dependent (sinusoidal) field when R < R0, andwhen R > R0. (c) Plot B0(R) in tesla for the range0 < R < 10 cm.
