At steady state, a heat pump driven by an electric motor

Chapter 5, Problem 5.67

(choose chapter or problem)

At steady state, a heat pump driven by an electric motor maintains the interior of a building at \(T_{\mathrm{H}}=293 \mathrm{\ K}\). The rate of heat transfer, in kJ/h, from the building through its walls and roof is given by \(8000\left(T_{\mathrm{H}}-T_{\mathrm{C}}\right)\), where \(T_{\mathrm{C}}\) is the outdoor temperature. Plot the minimum theoretical electric power, in kW, required to drive the heat pump versus \(T_{\mathrm{C}}\) ranging from 273 K to 293 K.
