The thermal efficiency, , of a cold air-standard diesel

Chapter 9, Problem 9.30

(choose chapter or problem)

The thermal efficiency, \(\eta\), of a cold air-standard diesel cycle can be expressed by Eq. 9.13:

\(\eta=1-\frac{1}{r^{k-1}}\left[\frac{r_{\mathrm{c}}^{k}-1}{k\left(r_{\mathrm{c}}-1\right)}\right]\)

where r is the compression ratio and \(r_{\mathrm{c}}\) is the cutoff ratio. Derive this expression.
