It is desired to slip an aluminum ring over a steel bar (Figure 1614). At 10.00 C the inside diameter of the ring is 4.000 cm and the diameter of the rod is 4.040 cm. (a)In order for the ring to slip over the bar, should the ring be heated or cooled? Explain. (b)Find the temperature of the ring at which it ts over the bar. The bar remains at 10.0 C.
