The article “Cellulose Acetate Microspheres Prepared by O/W Emulsification and Solvent Evaporation Method” (K. Soppinmath, A Kulkarni, et al., Journal of Microencapsulation, 2001:811–817) describes a study of the effects of the concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol (PVAL) and dichloromethane (DCM) on the encapsulation efficiency in a process that produces microspheres containing the drug ibuprofen. There were three concentrations of PVAL (measured in units of % w/v) and three of DCM (in mL). The results presented in the following table are consistent with the means and standard deviations presented in the article.
Construct an ANOVA table. You may give ranges for the P-values. Discuss the relationships among PVAL concentration, DCM concentration, and encapsulation efficiency.
