An inventor has proposed a device that will accelerate objects to speeds greater than c. He proposes to place the object to be accelerated on a conveyor belt whose speed is 0.80c. Next, the entire system is to be placed on a second conveyor belt that also has a speed of 0.80c, thus producing a nal speed of 1.6c. (a)Construction details aside, should you invest in this scheme? (b)What is the actual speed of the object relative to the ground?
