QUESTION:

Give an example in which a small force exerts a large torque. Give another example in which a large force exerts a small torque.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 4

Torque is the rotational analogous force. It is a measure of how effective the force is in causing an object to rotate about an axis. The magnitude of torque is given by

\(\tau=\vec{F} \times \vec{r}\)

where, \(F\) is the magnitude of applied force

\(r\) is the perpendicular distance between the axis and applied force.
